My name is Ray Powell and I've been hiking alone for five years. I started hiking when I read a post on Reddit about geocaching. My first hike in South Orange County was where I found beauty in solitude nature exploring.

In this blog I will share photographs and stories about some of the best hiking spots in the world. The first few posts are about the places I have lived prior to February 2017. The map below is bedazzled with locations of good hiking trails as well as monuments, parks and other places of interest; but mostly hiking trails
Looking at the star clusters, you can see that I have spent a great deal of time in Southern California, Louisiana, Tennessee and Maryland. There is also a considerable about of beauty in the mid-West from White Sands, New Mexico all the way up to Yellowstone National Park.
Enjoy the trails and tales as you vicariously hit the trail with me. Savor the smells of sage and lilac as we voyage up mountains and through valleys. Observe the wildlife and leave no trace except for your comments!
